The Tuesday List (TBS)

Well, I began a new job yesterday, and frankly my brain is full. On the bright side, I have all sorts of books to choose from, as my new library is larger than the last one. It shall be very interesting browsing through the stacks. What are you reading right now? Here’s what I’m working on.

Doctor Who: The Inside Story by Gary Russell – I got this at the Gallifrey One Convention. It looks quite interesting.

The Black Dudley Murder by Margery Allingham – The first Albert Campion mystery.

A Brief History of Time by Stephen Hawking – I’m still on chapter one.

Well, there you are. Now that I get to come home every night, I may actually get some reading done.

Three books total now. I’ll try to get the review for Daja’s Book up later this week.

Christopher Eccleston Joins Cast of The Dark is Rising (TBS)

Pardon me while I permit myself a fangirl squee. Christopher Eccleston (Doctor Who, Heroes) has been added to the cast of the upcoming filmed version of Susan Cooper’s The Dark is Rising. The news is all over the place, but here’s IGN’s article and the IMDB listing for the film. Eccleston will be playing “The Rider” (a villain). Now, I generally prefer to see him play a good guy, but I know that he will do a great job in this role. He brings such focus and depth to any character that he plays. I begin to have hope that they won’t screw up this film. (Don’t let me down WaldenMedia!)

The Tuesday List (TBS)

Well, I spent the weekend at a Doctor Who Convention, and this is my last week of the evil commute. On the other hand, this also means that I have to return all of my books. Sigh. Anyway, here is the remnants of my list. Have a great week!

Frederick by Leo Lionni – I’m re-reading this one after my question about favorite Picture Books. Strangely…I haven’t finished it yet.

Briar’s Book by Tamora Pierce – Book Four of the Circle of Magic series…and I can’t seem to figure out what I did with it…

A Brief History of Time by Stephen Hawking – I’m inching my way along, very slowly.

Three books total now. I’ll try to get the review for Daja’s Book up later this week.

The Tuesday List (TBS)

Hello folks. I’m going to start this week’s list with an advertisement for another blog. Tiny Treasury has a new writer, and she is starting things off with a contest. So, if you like children’s books, you might want to swing by and check out what she’s up to. Anyway, here’s the list for this week:

Frederick by Leo Lionni – I’m re-reading this one after my question about favorite Picture Books.

Daja’s Book by Tamora Pierce – Book Three of the Circle of Magic series. Another boost to my commute.

Cocktail Party Cheat Sheets brought to you by mental_floss – Almost done. I’ve made it to “Tanakh”

A Brief History of Time by Stephen Hawking – I’m inching my way along.

I’m down to four books, but considering that I have to finish up everything by the 25th, I suppose that’s not too surprising. What are you reading?

The Tuesday List (TBS)

So, I’m adding a “new job” to my list of new things in the new year. My commute will go down from 1.5-2 hours when I commute from home, to more like a half an hour. As an added bonus, I get to go home every night. With any luck, I’ll have more time to read. Here’s the list for this week:

Tris’s Book by Tamora Pierce – I’m listening to this one on CD in my new car. It’s book two of the series.

Cocktail Party Cheat Sheets brought to you by mental_floss – I’m inching my way through this one.

Doctor Who: I Am a Dalek by Gareth Roberts – I’ve barely touched it this week.

A Brief History of Time by Stephen Hawking – I’m still on chapter one…and I’ve checked out Physics for Dummies from the library. Just for research, you understand.

So, there’s my planned reading for the week. You never know, I might go crazy and read something not on the list. Mind you, it’ll probably be a picture book, so don’t panic. Have a good week!

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Release Date (TBS)

In case you have somehow managed to avoid the information deluge today (I swear that I received at least 3 emails on the subject), the release date for the final Harry Potter book has been revealed. July 21, 2007 is the day. You should have no trouble pre-ordering a copy, if such is your desire. I bought the last book at midnight in a grocery store, myself. I got the book before that at one of those bookstore parties. So, are you planning to pre-order, wait ’til the last minute, borrow it from a friend, or don’t care? I haven’t decided what I’m going to do this time around. I am quite excited, though. (If you would like continuing coverage of all things Harry Potter-related, I recommend Hogwarts Herald on this blog network.)

Sidney Sheldon dead at 89 (TBS)

Sidney Sheldon, author of many best-sellers and a few screenplays, died Tuesday of complications from pneumonia. Some of his better known screen plays are: “The Bachelor and the Bobby Soxer” (for which he won an Academy Award), “Easter Parade,” and “The Patty Duke Show.” Apparently, he still holds the record for “the world’s most translated author,” as his 18 novels have been translated into 71 languages. His books often featured strong women as characters. Perhaps this is why they remain so popular? His legions of fans will miss him.
