Quest of the Day (and some hair)

figure8hair.jpg
I’ve been playing with my hair lately.

Today I actually managed to kick off my Sunday lethargy and go out to run some errands. I even made it over to the British food shop form my comfort yummies.

And then…I gathered up my husband and went on a quest! We went in search of a polarizing filter for his camera. Sadly, though we traveled far and wide, we didn’t manage to locate quite the one that he wanted. So the quest must continue.

On the bright side, our last stop left us right near my favorite pub, The King’s Head. They were out of fish, so I ended up having chips and mushy peas…and cider. Wow. My alcohol tolerance has dropped through the floor. The cider was tasty, though.

On the way home we stopped at Borders so I could pick up my Torchwood/Doctor Who magazines.

And then…I got some blogging done. My life is so glamorous. (tee hee)

An update for Emma…Cause I Do Requests.

sarahjaneadventures.jpg

Today I really taxed my brain.

No, seriously. I have a friend that is working on her Master’s in Psychology and I’m her final. (Yes, that’s me. The professional guinea pig. I’ve done massage, make-up, and henna. Why not psychological tests?) So, we had Tea and nummies while she administered an IQ test and a Personality test. Too bad I won’t find out the results. She’s still learning, so the results wouldn’t be valid, you see. I get the feeling that I’m not stupid and I have a personality, though. Go me!

I was exhausted when we were done, though. It took like five and a half hours if you include the breaks we took. Mentally taxing, don’t you know. It was nice to have someone over. I had an excuse to do things like clean off the kitchen table…and re-pot the African Violets my sister gave me ages ago.

…And I’m not going to Kauai next month. We’re moving the trip to the end of August or so. Now I have a week off to…work around the house, blog, go to the Monterey Bay Aquarium again, and maybe goof off. Oh! And sleep. I like sleeping.

So, as you requested Emma. It’s an update. :) (I’ll try to do that more often, now that I know I have someone to entertain.)

Oh! And I am really enjoying The Sarah Jane Adventures over on the SciFi Channel. It reminds me of The Tomorrow People a little.

Don’t Drown Your Food

I was just making dinner, and I remembered this from Saturday Morning TV. Remember…don’t drown your food.

Stuff and Nonsense

crumpetrings.jpg

In the last couple of days:
I have purchased a set of four crumpet/English muffin rings. I eat a lot of crumpets, and I figure I can make them for cheaper than buying them. Yep. I’m working on ways to save money. My Mum tells me that Lemon Curd is relatively easy. So, I should have that covered too.

Today, I gave in a bought a rubber chicken. I found it online. So, at least I’ve gotten that taken care of.

The Universe seems to want me to brush up on my French. Over the weekend I met two folks who speak French. Then, over at one of my other blogs I gained a commenter who lives in France. Bon. D’accord. I get the message.

I’m quite peeved with my Insurance agent right now. She has managed to screw up Koshvader’s life insurance by sending it in at the wrong level. A level which requires a medical exam. Now they think that he’s hiding something ’cause he refused the exam that he wasn’t supposed to be asked to do. Growl.

I need to think about veggies, as we don’t eat enough of them. Hmmm…

Not loving the new version of WordPress

So, it’s a darn good thing I haven’t upgraded over here. Today have been frustrating and frazzling and…other things starting with “f.”

It all started when I left my insurance card at home. Luckily, my follow up with the OB/GYN went well, and I now have all sorts of tests and such to look forward to. (Eek!) But, once we (yes, the Hubby has to go get tests done too) get those tests out of the way, then we’ll finally know where we stand. So, I have some phone calls to make soon.

I made it to work on time. And then I spent the first couple of hours at work peeved with the new interface for my work blog. The image interface now makes code that I have to clean up. And…it wouldn’t give me the picture I chose. I turned in a support ticket to the WordPress folks, who are probably tired of hearing about problems with their new product, but there you are. And then…there were some of those patron interactions that I hate. Luckily there were also some of the good ones to balance them out.

When I got home I got some hugs and took a shower, so I’m happier than I was. Thank goodness.

Tomorrow includes: A Cat going to the vet, Me getting the finances in order later in the day, and some time to work on my T13 at work. Isn’t my life glamorous?

What with one thing and another…

I need a Rubber Chicken, and they are out of stock at Archie McPhee. Why do I need a Rubber Chicken? Well, I’m going to be making some changes over at Silliness.org, and one of those is changing the theme to Misty Look. Misty Look will allow me to change the picture in the header, so I’m going to get a Rubber Chicken (which I’ve been meaning to get for a couple of years now) and take some random pics of it. That way I can change the header periodically. You see? With the change of theme will also come another change. I’m going to start using ads. Hey, I need to make up that rent increase somehow. And I can’t say anything about the addition of ads over there, as that is against the usage policy. I’m hoping that the change of theme will give the blog a slightly sillier appearance. It’s kind of boring now. Hey, I could even have some new tag lines like: Silliness.org – Obey the chicken. Anyway, that’s what’s going on over there.

I’m still alive. In case the fact that I’m posting this hadn’t tipped you off. I will never again sneer at Influenza. I’m not sure that I ever have before, but there you are. Bleh. I’m still coughing, but I’m otherwise okay if a bit on the tired side. My brain is back to its usual thousand miles an hour thing. So, thank you for your well wishes.

I’ve been working on my list today. So far:

I’ve made an appointment with my OB/GYN who is back from her maternity leave. (28. Call OB/GYN’s office.) I need to catch up and talk to her about that test I need to do.
I’ve changed doctors. (30. Change doctors)

And I’ve been working on some other things like the old version of Silliness.org and my filing system. I even got my old renter’s insurance policy (the people that re-upped without asking) canceled officially. The new policy proof is being faxed to the complex as I type.

Now, some bad news. The pet rent was not included in the original estimate of the new rent price starting in June. So, our rent is going up a grand total of $233/month. Good Gad! Yes, I just got off of the phone. Now I really wish that I’d get that Tea Blogger job I applied for.

Hey, Dad! This is the song that was stuck in my head the other day. (Mind you, this live version is a bit faster than I’m used to.)

Oh, and finally, Doctor Who series 4 starts tomorrow in the UK. Just so you know.

The Good & The Bad

I haven’t done this in a while, so here we go…

Today:
The Good: I’m finally feeling better! (Not quite back to normal, but close…which is good, as I’m going back to work tomorrow.)

The Bad: We got the notice that says they are upping our rent by $200 if we want to re-up the apartment. So, I called to see of that included the pet rent this time. (Last year there was quite the to-do about that.) They have to look it up and get back to me. I don’t want to move. Also, we can’t afford to. And this is the cheapest we’ll find for what we have. Sigh. So, we’re staying, but we’ll be complaining about it a lot.

Also, may I just say, I spent less time recovering from Gall Bladder surgery than I have on this flu. Influenza Type A is really sucky.
