A quick update

tank watchers

Hi all. Me again. And this is your quick update (from my overheating Hackintosh laptop in its non-ergonomic location up in my office.)

When we last left our intrepid pair, the plan was to head in to get a blood test on Wednesday. What happened next?

Well…unlike the two hour wait I experienced on Monday, Wednesday was a breeze. Everything fell into place. Easy parking spot. Crosswalk turned green right away. Our number was called in the waiting room before we could even sit down. (So much for my knitting.) After some initial confusion (apparently there is a letter heading our way having to do with some recent lab trip…no sign of it yet. Poor Koshvader is understandably stressed.) we got everything straightened out and went to wait for the actual blood draw. Only a minute later we were in there, and I discovered how uncomfortable watching him get stuck with a needle made me. We were done and out of there very quickly, then we headed home. He relaxed for a few minutes then headed off to work. I dithered about at home until I had to head off, too.

It wasn’t until much later that night that I realized we were supposed to go up and sign that darn paperwork after the blood test. Ugh!
Well crud. Damn and blast. Other expletives of a similar sentiment.

It turns out that I’m working 3 late shifts in a row next week. Good thing, as I may have to do a few things in the morning. Also, if my calculations are correct my other blood test falls next week.

Oh! Remember how I’ve been putting things away/moving in/making my room more mine? Well, in preparation for my MIL to come visit I’ve been moving stuff into my room from my office. In the process, I’ve found a spot for my other footlocker (previously seen cluttering up my front room.) With a bit of careful adjusting (careful, as in I took all of the books off of the bookcases before I moved them. If you’ve known me any length of time, you’ll know the concession that is to being careful of my body.) I fit it into my room to make the perfect spot for my stereo. (Which used to be on the other footlocker in my office.) I can now officially listen to Christmas music in my room! Especially since I cleared out the other corner (my one remaining filled box is now up in the closet, courtesy of Koshvader) to make room for my CD tower. Long way to go yet, but my room is beginning to feel a lot more comfy/relaxing.

Speaking of which…I’m off to bed. Celticangel out.

The Next Step

So, today I got one of my scheduled blood draws out of the way. Sounds easy, yeah?

Well, it’s a darn good thing that Koshvader didn’t come with me today to get his blood test out of the way because…it took two hours to get out of there. Normally this sort of thing takes about half an hour/forty-five minutes. I allowed myself one hour. I figured, best to be safe, yeah? I got my number (just like at the meat counter) and looked at it. I was A016. When they got to A155 (they had to get up to A200 and then go back to zero) I went outside to call work. I could tell that I was going to be late. They also have B, C, D, and E numbers to label the different priorities, you see. A was the lowest priority of the lot. It was good that I brought a book with me, though upon reflection I should have brought my knitting. The only book I had in the car was one on the topic of Ireland’s Great Famine. Luckily, a couple of interesting ladies (with numbers in the A030s) sat next to me after a while. They managed to keep me entertained until it was finally my turn.

When my number was up (sounds ominous, doesn’t it?) I went up to the correct window and made a point of checking to be sure that Koshvader’s blood test was in the computer. It was. *whew* Oh! Did I mention that I had both of our medical cards with me? Witness my preparedness! Very rare, you know.

I made it to work an hour late, but at least I have another things checked off of my list. Soon I will discover if I still have Progesterone. I did last year.

Next, I will be taking Koshvader in for his blood test (and paperwork signing) on Wednesday morning. Here’s hoping.
