There are Chickens in the Trees!

I’m not sure if I’ve posted this here before, but it’s worth another look either way. Once upon a time on Sesame Street this animated short was shown. I have been singing the song ever since. Yes, it has been known to make Koshvader a bit insane, but I sing it anyway. Why? Because there are chickens in the trees!

New Spice – Study like a scholar, scholar

This giggle-inducing spoof of the Old Spice commercials is a commercial for the Harold B. Lee Library at BYU. Very clever and quite well done. Kudos, folks!

The Old Spice Guy on Libraries

A gentleman by the name of Isaiah Mustafa is the Old Spice Guy these days (as seen on TV in commercials of coolness). He’s been Youtubing replies to folks that have asked him questions on Twitter, etc. (Apparently from Portland, OR.) This is his reply on the subject of libraries.

You can check out more on his Youtube channel here. Quite a clever commercial campaign there Old Spice. Excellent choice of spokesperson, too. (…And if you want to know more about the process behind all of this awesomesauce go here.)

The Firefly Intro – 80s Style

This is so very much how the intro for Firefly would have been if the show had appeared in the 80s. Fun! A word of warning, though. They seem to have forgotten about poor Simon.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (The 2nd Trailer)

This pair of films may yet be seriously amazing. The trailers I’ve seen make me squee and run about in anticipation.

T-Shirt Tuesday

Hello all. Lucky for me I only “took a nap” after work rather than sleeping all night. Yeah. Two days of re-shelving materials in a library post-renovation can be exhausting. *whew*

So, since I’m awake, here is another T-Shirt Tuesday Post.

Today’s shirt is a remnant of a bygone age. That’s right. The Dot Com era. During that era, I actually had a little bit of money. I enjoyed going to Denny’s at 2am with friends. People had to wait months on waiting lists to get apartments in the Bay Area. And one of the things that was considered cool was to collect t-shirts from companies that had gone under and, you know, wear them. Certicom was a company in Foster City, once upon a time, that was a place of employment for a friend of mine. He’s the one that got me the shirt, and let me just tell you that it is incredibly comfortable. As the Dot Bomb happened about ten years ago, that should give you a general idea of its age.

Sigh. I miss the Dot Com bubble, and my job as a Knowledge Engineer. Ah well.

A Few Amusements

Lately I’ve been feeling pulled in all sorts of different directions. So much to do! And yet? I haven’t pulled out my hair so far.

So, I thought that it was time for another brain dump. To…sort of demonstrate the feeling. Yeah. That’s the ticket…

LOOK! It’s the Goodyear Blimp! *hides*

(Much Belated) T-Shirt Tuesday: UC Davis Aggies

This week’s shirt for T-Shirt Tuesday is actually one that I bought for someone else. Yes. I bought this pink t-shirt for my brother while I was at University. Is it any wonder that it found it’s way back to me?

And, for the record, this is the most raggedy t-shirt that I own. As such, it was pressed into service today (along with my most holey jeans) when I had to wash the cats. Yes. Wash the cats. One word. Fleas. Bleh.

Anyway, it’s good to have a t-shirt from my Alma Mater…even if it is the most disreputable thing I own.

Slug Bug? So Five Minutes Ago

Over this past weekend, Koshvader and I went on a nice little road trip. We went as far south as SLO, stopped at and photographed two missions, visited Hearst Castle, found a squirrel tame enough to stand on my shoe, got stuck behind several very slow people on Highway 1, photographed a Surrey with the fringe on top, saw a bunch of illegal fireworks from a distance, and even went to two beaches without actually setting foot on the beach.

And what else did we do?

We invented a new game.

I’m sure that many of you are familiar with the game known as “Slug Bug,” especially since Volkswagen has started putting a modified version of it in their commercials. For those few of you who have not yet encountered it, “Slug Bug” basically involves seeing a VW Bug before the other person playing the game (most often played while in a car for the record) and then hitting the other person (who did not see it first) and saying “Slug Bug.”

Well, out this way there are far less Bugs than there used to be, both classic and modern. What are there a whole bunch of these days?

Mustangs!

And thus, my friends, the game called “‘Stang Bang” was invented. Basically, it has the same rules as “Slug Bug.” (Except for the one memorable “‘Stang Elbow” incident. If I may just say…ow!) The only thing that we have specified is that you can’t just keep hitting each other due to repeatedly passing the same darn car as you go down the road. That is just plain cheating, and therefore naughty.

So, what are you waiting for? Get out there and play! (Within reason, mind. Use your good judgment and don’t come crying to me if you get into a wreck. I have the smallest violin in the world and I’m not afraid to play it.)
