I’m visiting friends this weekend, but fear not, I still have the weekly confession for you.
Today’s Saturday Confession: I don’t like 3D films.
Hey, I know that they are all the rage these days, but they aren’t really my thing. I tend to end up with either motion sickness or my eyes get really upset and refuse to see things properly. It’s a bit disorientating is all I’m saying. Maybe this has to do with those darn Magic Eye pictures. I can even do the eye relaxing thing required, but I can’t see them. Le sigh.

This year, come November, many of my friends are participating in National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) and/or National Blog Posting Month (NaBloPoMo). Can I get a cheer for the writers?
(Insert your supportive cheer routine here.)
While I salute both efforts, and have tried both in the past, this year I am doing neither. I’ll bet you’re wondering why. Well, I have three works in progress (WIPs) from previous years, and requests for various other bits of writing (poetry, the scene I owe Susan, etc.) that I need to get to. So, I will be spending the month of November working on them. Dedicated writing time! My hubby has been warned that I will be no fun during said month (except for your birthday, honey, don’t worry.) Better yet? If I manage to break through those walls of writer’s block/confusion/uninspiredness/general fuzzyheadedness/etc. I will let you know about it here. In this way, y’all can keep track of my creative efforts. I would also ask that anyone working on a creative endeavor during the same month, and also bothering to pop by my blog, would let me know how they are doing with the battle.
Let us all approach this most creative of months in our own way. I hereby dub it – National Write Anything Month (NaWriAnMo).
The party begins on Monday.

For my second Saturday Confession, I offer my view on a certain genre of books:
I like Romances.
Quite a bit, actually. In general, though, I prefer the ones that aren’t solely based on “relationship problems.” You know, the ones where there’s a baddie out to get them, etc. Yep. Romances. And someday I may actually finish writing one.

Just a quick post this time. (I’m all sleepy and such.) But I had to show y’all this picture of the newly nicknamed DJ and myself before I go pass out. Apparently we are ignoring the sign behind us, which asks that we turn in our weapons. We are obviously quite naughty things. Best leave these two alone.

…And we’re back. From our vacation to visit friends in Florida. And said vacation was fabulous…but tiring. So, it may take a bit to get my act together again. We shall see.
I have the evil vertigo again on top of the usual jet lag. And as it started before I left Florida, let me just say that the trip home was rather entertaining. Every time the plane tilted a little, it felt like I was on a roller coaster. This is how I know that it’s my inner ear being upset again that is causing the vertigo. Either that, or I’m a Time Lady and I can feel the turn of the Earth.
Well, as you can see from the photo above, I managed to get six magnets on the trip. They are now happily on my very bedizened filing cabinet with the others. And by the way? I have a lot of magnets. Dude. I actually had to lean over to add them.
And what did I do on my birthday, you may be asking yourself. Well, I went to tea at the Grand Floridian Hotel (stupendous, by the way) and also…
Yep. Old West Photos for the win! I think I look like I’m going to whack someone with that bottle. So…look out. This is the fourth set of “Olde Timey” photos that my friend She-who-needs-a-nickname and I have done. This time, I got one of me on my lonesome as well. If you’re ever in Kissimmee, Fl stop by the Old Town Portrait Gallery. They do a great job. (And if I get permission, and an actual scanned copy, I’ll put up the other pic, too.)
More as I go through my pics, but for now I’m off to my Thotful Spot. TTFN.

Wiktionary defines sabbatical thusly:
“An extended period of leave, often one year long, taken by an employee in order to carry out projects not otherwise associated with the employee’s job.”
Sabbaticals. Sounds like a dream, doesn’t it? I think that more folks in all sorts of professions need to be able to take sabbaticals. Say you had a year off to work on some project or other, where would you go, and what project would you spend your time on?
Personally, I’d either go photograph standing stones and such like in the UK (in view of writing a book), photograph a walking tour of the UK (book again), or just spend a year someplace beautiful and rural creating art of some sort.
Also? I might get some sleep. Speaking of…Night all!.

Okay. I would like to blame this poem on my friend Debbie (who has a cold and is a bad influence, apparently.) I hope that the cold leaves in disgrace soon, and I blame you for the fact that this poem
attacked visited me during dessert when my pen had gone missing. This one is her fault for encouraging me.
(And now with bonus recording of the author reading the poem – here)
The Perfectionist (by me)
Seeks the straight line
Crisp and distinct
No trailing edge or
Breathes hospital corners
Cat-less, unrumpled sheets
Even the End
Chaos spun into order
Good luck with that.

Just a little something to amuse you of a Saturday. (There may be more on some future Saturday…who knows?)
My Saturday Confession:
I have never seen Gone With the Wind. (But I hear that tomorrow is another day…)

My birthday is coming up in a little over a week, so once again I’ve been getting questions about what I’d like. Well, my want list is here, but here are five things that you might want, too.
1. AquaNotes Waterproof writing pad. Yes. Finally it’s possible to take notes in the shower! (And trust me, that’s where I do my best thinking.)
2. The “Keep Calm and Carry On” mugs from the Acorn catalog. Aren’t they pretty? I think a nice cup of tea would help me carry on.
3. This really cool magnifying glass. (It’s portable!)
4. Survival Straps Bracelet (just in case.)
5. The Mikey for ipod. (Yes, a microphone by Blue that you can plug into your ipod. Shiny!)
