(A quick note: There are several other LOLcat sites out there, not to mention the ones that float around the internets via email, etc. I’m concentrating on Icanhascheezburger.com for my “research” because it seems to be the most popular one…and it’s the one I enjoy the most. Also, I will not be enumerating every single paradigm and trend…just a whole bunch of them.)

(date: 1/13/2007) LOLcats believe that the best day of the week is “Caturday.” It is their day to relax and party their way, one imagines. In this first Caturday post, it seems that Caturday is a good reason to stop hiding in a bag.

(date: 1/14/2007) I am the LOLrus… Yes, there is an infamous LOLrus in LOLcatland. He had a bucket that he loved dearly, but someone took it away, and the hunt began. (I am treating this particular caption paradigm as distinct from the I has a/I can has? captions as mentioned below, as it concerns itself specifically with that darn bucket.)

(date: 1/11/2007) One of the easiest, and most popular, of the caption paradigms on ICHC is the “I has a…” caption. This is closely related to the caption used in the first posting, the question “I can has cheezburger?” Indeed, much has been made of various cats wanting and, in a few cases, actually getting the desired cheeseburger (or other item as stated. See bucket above.) on the site. As you can see here, this rodent actually has a Karot. I will be treating these similar types of captions as branches of the same paradigm in future analysis.
