Well, you can now listen to yesterday’s poem here. This would have been up last night, but my computer decided to have one of its cascade failures. This morning I woke up to the sound of the heater being on (which, for the record none of us could figure out, as we hadn’t turned it on. Cats, maybe?) and that explained why I felt terrible. This did not do justice to my snazzy new PJs.

Oh, and the picture above is from EPCOT. That was one darn unusual bird.

Um…I think I made up for lost time lately. I wrote a pivotal scene in one of my WIPs today, and I’ve been attacked by no less that 2 poems in the last 48 hours. One, I even managed to finish. So…here it is. Hope you like it.

Sidereal

We each
hold
some amount
of personal gravity.
There are those
in our orbits
and others
we
revolve around
at a slow
measured
pace.
Cataclysmic
celestial events
are mirrored
likewise
in disruptions
of complex
terrestrial dances.
So perhaps
it is fitting
that even
our own
entropic ending
full
of seeming stillness
is only
rejoining the Earth
in her particular
turning
pattern.

So, I don’t seem to be doing too well at my own creation. Perhaps it should have been called Be Creative Darn You Month. But all is not lost. I have recently: edited a friend’s radio play, discovered how two characters originally met in my Finding Lucas WIP, and I just had a rather unusual tv show idea while in my thinking spot.

In other news, I’ve been thinking of starting my own podcast (which, thanks to DJ has a name. Oh! I already have a Doctor Who-related one. You can find the most recent one here.) and I’ve been pondering some actual sewing. Yes. I took sewing in school. For the record, I also took drawing and painting. I love art…I’m just not always good at it. Sometimes, though…things work out. Like a ray of light in the darkness, you know?

(And I can’t believe that the pic above came out. It was mighty dark in that part of EPCOT, and my camera isn’t fond of darkness.)

Day 2 already is it?

Well, then here is the quick rundown of today’s piddly amount of writing work:

I worked on the poem a bit more, and I’m just not happy with it. Perhaps I’ll come back to it in a few days.

I spent some time trying to organize my document files, which are all sorts of screwed up after having traveled through a couple of different computers. This is very useful, though, as I now have a better idea of what all I’ve already written down.

I messed about a bit with one of my WIPs, found notes for another, and then I found my Radio Play WIP which brings me to my snippet of work for the day:

Hero: What do you want from us?? Our land? Our women…?

Alien: No. We want tickets to Disneyland.

Hero: er…what? Seriously?

Alien: I can’t believe you fell for that.

Okay, to begin with I would like to cheer on participants in: NaNoWriMo, NaBloPoMo, Art Everyday Month (ArEvMo?), and my very own NaWriAnMo (National Write Anything Month.) *waves pom poms*

And speaking of NaWriAnMo…well, as many of you may know, my preferred baseball team won the World Series today. This is, of course, fabulous…but it does rather get in the way of writing, you know? I mean, on the one hand I really want to go out and have some celebratory nummies, but on the other hand this is my designated month to write-and-be-no-fun…

What did I do? Well, I put on my team hat and went out…but I brought my notebook and pen. Best of both worlds, right? (TGI Friday’s wasn’t too bad with the noise, by the way, except for this one guy at the bar. Dude.)

What have I been doing on the writing front today? Honestly, mostly just this post (which counts, by the way), but I do have a poem in the works. Fear not! Once I figure out which word I want to use instead of “lurking,” I think it will all come together.

And now, on to some far more important news:

I AM GOING TO BE AN AUNTIE!

That’s right, Ladies and Gentlemen of the internet, my little sister is pregnant. I’m so glad that I can finally share this with you all. I’ve been wanting to shout the news from the rooftops. The baby is due in April, which would make it a Rabbit and either an Aries or a Taurus…whatever that means.

Today is a day of celebration. Sister Mine is starting a family and I’m preparing to embark on my career as a spoiling auntie. Oh, yes!
