(Okay, it’s actually only one podcast, but it sounded better in the plural. You know how it is, yeah?)
I believe that I mentioned that a podcast asked to use one of my poems? Well, it’s been posted, and here it is: The Jackass-Penguin Show’s Jazzy Selection (episode 7) (warning: it starts playing on load). If you like modern Jazz, you might think about subscribing.
And now back to my holiday snaps. When last we we saw our intrepid travelers, they had arrived at their destination, and were off having fun.
I got to have Dole Whip THREE TIMES during this trip. And this is what it looked like standing in line for my favorite yummy thing the night we arrived. (For those of you who are curious why I love Dole Whip so much 1)I love pineapple juice 2) I love soft-serve 3) Dairy products (especially ice cream) do not love me. The sadness! *dramatic gesture* Now while this may be great for my waistline, it’s not so good for the happiness of me. Therefore: Dole Whip, complete with no dairy! Cue the choir of angels!)
What can I say about the new Star Tours that isn’t too spoilery? Um…Okay, how about this: It’s in 3D, and each of the three times I went on the ride…it was different! Give it a try if you can.
And here is the view of the Matterhorn, with its eerie glowing heart, taken from the Monorail platform. Do they still have climbers on it at any point these days? I didn’t see any while I was there, but that may have had something to do with the time of year. I did actually go on the ride at one point in the weekend, and it jerked me all around just as I remembered. Ow.
Tomorrow: The other reason I was in SoCal – My evil Twin’s Wedding!
The convention I’m down here for (Gallifrey One) officially starts tomorrow. Yay! Here’s a bit of rambling on the topic of said con, and the trip to get here. So far I have learned that I can’t hold the microphone while I’m recording. Please forgive the clicking.
I suppose that some of y’all are wondering where the heck I’ve been lately. Well, the short answer is: Busy (and a little bit sick.)
Busy with what? Well, I’ve got a couple of projects I’ve been trying to work on for friends, and I’ve begun podficcing. What is podficcing? Well, it’s like the audiobook version of a fanfiction. Someone writes a fanfiction, and if I like it, and they agree, I can do a reading of it. No, I won’t be listing them here (as you don’t really need to know about my tastes in fanfiction) but fear not! I have other voice thingies to point you to.
I have a podcast that I do with a friend, and it can be found here. It’s a Doctor Who podcast, if you’re interested. All I ask is that you only download one episode at a time.
In other voice news, one of my Valentine’s Day gifts was a shiny new microphone! It’s a Blue Snowball, if you’re interested. As I am getting all of my stuff together to go to Gallifrey One next weekend, and I had hoped to do a bit of podcasting while I’m down there, the timing is perfect. I’ve tested it with my wee laptop and Audacity, and here is what my test sounded like:
I can already tell that it sounds clearer! …Now I just need to figure out how I’m going to transport the thing.
In other news, today we went back to the Computer History Museum, and we arrived just in time to see a demonstration of Charles Babbage’s Difference Engine #2. Once I get more of the pictures/videos processed, I’ll post them up for you to see, but in the meantime, here is a 360 of the machine, with the video about it playing faintly in the distance. (if you click on the Babbage link above, you can watch a part of that video, and watch the machine in motion.)
And now, I’m off to bed. This next week is going to be mental. Wish me luck!
So, I saw this over at FayJay’s Blog, and I was inspired (and amused enough) to do it here.
You know those memes that attempt to show your particular linguistic variations? Yeah. This is like that, but you can actually hear it (if you want to).

Well, you can now listen to yesterday’s poem here. This would have been up last night, but my computer decided to have one of its cascade failures. This morning I woke up to the sound of the heater being on (which, for the record none of us could figure out, as we hadn’t turned it on. Cats, maybe?) and that explained why I felt terrible. This did not do justice to my snazzy new PJs.
Oh, and the picture above is from EPCOT. That was one darn unusual bird.
Hello all. As you can hear in the audio file embedded above I have made it to Monterey for the Internet Librarian Conference. I have my laptop with me, and currently it seems to be behaving (*fingers crossed*). I’m trying a different browser and I’m also attempting not to stress out the computer too much.
I’ll just have to wait and see how that works. Anyway, how could I come to an Internet Librarian conference sans laptop? That would be too shocking by half.
Now that I know that my connection, etc. is working I’m going to go back to working on my pictures from today’s trip to the aquarium. Stand by for pics!
