The Anniversary

My seven year anniversary just passed, and to celebrate we drove into the city to have dinner at Sutro’s at the Cliff House. Somehow, we actually managed to arrive an hour early and find nearby parking. An anniversary miracle? So, went spent some time in the gift shop (which was full of expensive pretties) where I bought both a magnet (for my over-decorated filing cabinet) and a touristy postcard for my eventual Adventure Book.

Yes, Adventure Book…’cause driving into the city counts as an adventure for me.

Anyway, after wandering around some more (during which wandering Koshvader took the above picture of me as I squinted into the sun. Please note the lovely ruby pendant that I was allowed to borrow for the event. It’s one of his.) we went down to the restaurant hoping to sit for the remaining half an hour. But to our surprise, they were able to seat us right away. And really, I can’t say enough good things about this restaurant. The food was excellent (though I must point out that my pot pie was a tad over salted), the plating was lovely (I mean, toast points neatly tucked into a folded napkin for heaven’s sake), and the service was fabulous. Have you ever noticed that when you ask a waiter for “just a bit more” of a drink they invariably give you a full serving, which you end up wasting most of? Not here. I asked for “just a bit more coffee” and I got slightly less than half a cup. Just the perfect amount. And that was just the tip of the iceberg. I will definitely go there again. It’s quite expensive, so I wont go often, but you get the idea. It’s a nice choice for a special occasion.

And then we went home with happy bellies.
